2025 WNBA Draft: Madison Scott's Dynamic Versatility
Looking ahead to the 2025 WNBA Draft, Ole Miss Senior wing, Madison Scott, has the Rebels riding high, and the skillset to be a high impact player as a professional. What makes her a first-round draft pick?

The name of the game in the highest level of professional basketball is versatility, something that Ole Miss senior Madison Scott provides in droves. As the WNBA has continued to spread out, play faster, and lean into pick and roll heavy systems, being able to stay on the court is a must.
Can you defend multiple actions? Multiple types of players? Bring a positive trait to the defensive end that makes you trustworthy early on?
Can you play with and without the ball on offense? Can you flow through an offense? Can you score efficiently when you have the ball? Hit open shots? Make good and quick decisions?
So much goes into making a neutral or better impact, we’re just scratching the surface here. These are the kinds of questions that are going to come up for players entering the WNBA, arguably the hardest league in the world to earn a roster spot in.
I feel confident in saying that Madison Scott will answer those questions at a high level.
Madison joined me on the latest WNBA Draft Film Room episode! Be sure to check it out to get insight on her mindset, how she breaks down film, and her understanding of her skillset and fit at the next level.
We broke down her playmaking, defensive versatility, athleticism, shooting potential, and scoring versatility… all key attributes that make her an enticing pro prospect.
I had Madison going 8th to the Indiana Fever in the first iteration of the 2025 WNBA Mock Draft.
Madison is one of the few players in recent drafts that can don the “able to guard 1-5” moniker, with a rare blend of size, lateral quickness, functional strength, and positional awareness. She has legitimate potential to become an All-Defense caliber player in the W if she can earn a starting level role, and I feel confident in that being a realistic possibility.
While it will be key to see how she can develop as a shooter and off-ball player, it’s worth noting that the system she’s played in in college hasn’t fully emphasized those things (they’ve still been very successful!), something that matters in transitioning to the next level. If you’ve been in a system that DOES emphasize spacing and shooting, and you aren’t getting those attempts up, there’s more serious concern in my eyes.
Seeing how well Scott shoots it from the line, off difficult attempts in the mid-range, and with her touch in general, I’m confident in her potential as a 3-point shooter. With a focus on footwork and shot prep, Scott absolutely has the ability to become a respectable threat from distance.
